At QualiFast Contracting, we are excited to announce our recent partnership with the SD72 School Board for an impactful project aimed at enhancing childcare accessibility in Campbell River and on Quadra Island. Awarded the construction contract for seven new before- and after-school childcare centers, QualiFast Contracting is proud to contribute to the community’s growth and development.

Empowering Working Families Through Quality Childcare

With the primary goal of increasing access to licensed childcare for working families, this initiative is a significant step forward for both education and community development. The seven childcare centers, strategically located at Ocean Grove, Ripple Rock, Cedar, Pinecrest, Sandowne, Georgia Park, and Quadra Elementary Schools, aim to create 210 new licensed childcare spaces. This endeavor responds to a crucial need identified by families in the region.

A Landmark Project for SD72 School Board

This project, valued at over $6 million, stands as the largest construction undertaking by the SD72 School Board since the establishment of Ripple Rock Elementary School in 2005. The funding for this initiative was announced by the Ministry of Education and Child Care in April 2022, recognizing the importance of providing accessible and quality childcare services for families in the community.

Navigating Tight Timelines and Prioritizing Community Impact

With an ambitious timeline, construction is already underway at Ocean Grove, Quadra, Cedar, and Ripple Rock. Although all seven centers may not be completed by September, they will open in alternative, temporary locations within the schools, ensuring that families can start benefiting from these vital resources as soon as possible.

Creating Seamless Transitions and Community Integration

By co-locating childcare centers on school grounds, the SD72 School Board aims to make life more convenient for busy parents in and around Campbell River. This approach not only facilitates smoother transitions for children between school and daycare but also establishes a foundation for accessible and inclusive childcare services, aligning with the core values of QualiFast Contracting.

A Vision Shared with the Community

As we embark on this journey with SD72, we echo the sentiments of Philip Cizmic, interim superintendent for School District 72: “Access to quality childcare is crucial for working families, and we are confident that these new childcare centers will serve as a tremendous resource for years to come.” We also extend our gratitude to Michele Babchuk, MLA for North Island, for recognizing the importance of this project in addressing the needs of families in the region.

Welcoming the Future in September

Come September, QualiFast Contracting looks forward to witnessing the fruition of this project as the centers open their doors to children and families. This collaborative effort underscores our commitment to community development and our dedication to creating spaces that truly make a difference. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education and childcare in Campbell River and Quadra Island.
